Cream Chicken Gravy

Fast, easy and delicious creamy chicken gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups water or combination stock/water/milk etc
  • 2 tablespoons chicken base
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cream

Instructions

  • Melt butter in pan on medium heat. Add flour and cook for a minute. Add liquid and cook on medium heat until thickened. This will thicken faster if you heat the liquid prior (in the microwave) Add chicken base and pepper.

Notes

For a brown gravy, brown the flour slightly in the pan prior to adding the butter. Heat over medium heat until the flour turns golden. Replace chicken base with beef base. Add a teaspoon or so Kitchen Bouquet (to taste basically. this adds both color and a nice caramel flavor)
