Cheese Biscuits

Cheesy garlicky biscuits

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • ½ cup sourdough starter, fed or unfed
  • 6 tablespoons powdered buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons lard
  • 2 teaspoons salt

For the topping

  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Combine dry ingredients with cheese in food processor and process until completely mixed. Cut in butter and lard until it looks like cornmeal. Add liquids and just pulse until the dough comes together. Add more water if it feels too dry. Pat out into a 1 inch round and cut into biscuits (combining pieces and cutting more biscuits as you go). Bake in 375 degree Fahrenheit oven 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through and browned on top. Brush with butter/garlic powder mixture.
